The Best of Disney World at Christmas

We asked the team here at Best of WDW about their favorite ways to celebrate the Christmas season at Disney World:

My favorite thing to experience at Disney World during Christmas time is the castle! There is absolutely nothing like it. I am obsessed with Christmas as it is, but being there in the front of the castle to watch Elsa use her magic to turn on the lights is truly magical. I encourage everyone to experience Magic Kingdom at night during the Holidays because it’s one of a kind.

During holiday season, we enjoy going to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party to view the toy soldiers in the parade.  To see life-size toy soldiers march right by you is so fun!

On December 23, 1972, I took my first ever ride on the Walt Disney World Railroad. I fell in love with traveling through Adventureland and Frontierland on the rails. Back in 1972, cast members actually asked my family, “What are you doing in the Magic Kingdom? It’s Christmas!” The park was virtually empty as everyone was home making preparations for the holiday. In the past 45 years, that has certainly changed! A Christmastime ride on the Walt Disney World Railroad is now on  everyone’s to-do list.

Sure, throughout the holidays, Christmas carols can be heard on every street corner. But the BEST place to enjoy singing at Christmastime is at the Frozen Sing-Along. If you aren’t lucky enough to see a white Christmas in the northern parts of the USA, no worries! Just join in the fun at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. There is hilarious comedy from the Historians of Arendelle, plus the best surprise ever for the holiday season at the end of the show. You will find yourself in a beautiful winter wonderland.

If you are like me, you count down until its time to shop for Christmas. At Disney, you can visit some grand holiday stores all year round. “It’s a Wonderful Shop,” named after one of our favorite holiday movies, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” is found at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Treasured, one-of-a-kind Christmas ornaments and decorations are just waiting to travel to your home for the holidays. On our last visit to this shop, we purchased a Disney Christmas storybook that we will cherish for many Christmases to come.
