I love you. I know. Let’s Go on a Date.

TeraS Date Night at Disney, Hollywood Studios, Relaxing in WDW 1 Comment

The phrase “I love you”…”I know” between Princess Leia and Han Solo may seem demeaning, but to those who are true Star Wars fans, it could not be more romantic. What better way to spend a summer evening under the galactic stars with your significant other than at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Star Wars Land is still in the works, but there are plenty of opportunities to spend quality time with the one you love in a galaxy far, far, away.

My Boyfriend and I had our very own Star Wars date when he returned from deployment at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Are you a Rebel? Are you with the Empire?

The following sequence of attractions and dining will provide an opportunity to experience both sides of the Force during your date!

March of the First Order

The perfect start to the evening would be arriving at Hollywood Studios around 4:30 pm, especially in the summertime when the sun is finally starting to cool off a bit. The first stop would be to experience the March of the First Order at 5 pm. This is an approximate 15-minute march down Hollywood Boulevard featuring Captain Phasma and her troops. Get your phones ready and be sure to stand in front of the Trolley Café or Keystone Clothiers, if you want to be face to face with the Storm Troopers. It’s an experience you will not forget.

A Galaxy Far, Far, Away

Following the March is the Star Wars stage show, A Galaxy Far, Far Away, in front of the Chinese Theater at 5:30 pm. This is a 15-minute show highlighting some of the most defining moments in the films A character appearance follows each scene. This is a great way to see characters you would not see otherwise (outside of Star Wars nights and weekends). The latest additions to the show are Rey and her droid, BB8. Head that way after the March for something you definitely want to experience at least once.

Star Tours

Next stop, Star Tours! If you have the My Disney Experience app, it’s not usually very difficult to get an evening Fast Pass for this attraction. Between 6:00-7:30 pm would be perfect for your date agenda.  Star Tours, a3D spaceflight starring C-3PO and R2-D2, is unique because the ride is updated along with the movies, so you never know what combination of scenes you’ll get. On your Star Tours adventure, you could end up in the oceans of Naboo, encounter the Death Star with Darth Vader and Boba Fett, see Wookies, or be in the presence of the First Order. It’s always a surprise!

Dine like a Jedi at Backlot Express

Right after you depart from your Starship, head over next door to the Backlot Express. This is a quick service dining experience, with Star Wars offerings that you cannot miss! Try the Dark Side Chicken and Waffles, or the Galactic Chicken Salad paired with Padawan Limeade in a souvenir Chewbacca stein.  If your Jedi appetite can handle more, finish with a Darth Vader chocolate cupcake with peanut butter buttercream for desert.

Meet your favorite characters at Star Wars Launch Bay

In the summertime, the Star Wars Nighttime Spectacular occurs at 9:30 pm. (Check the times guide to be sure.) If you have done everything I mentioned in the order I suggested, then this would put you around 8 pm. To fill in the next hour and a half, you have a few more things to see before the big finale! Head over to the Star Wars Launch Bay to see props from Rogue One, and the original films! You actually get to see Anakin Skywalker’s pod racer—how amazing is that?! I got goosebumps the first time I saw it, because of how much these films have impacted cinematic history. Launch Bay also offers you the chance to meet Chewbacca, Kylo Ren, and now BB8. Remember when I said you might need to compromise depending on which side of the Force you’re on? Take advantage of these photo ops, and pose with your sweetie for some memorable character encounters.

The Grand Finale, the Star Wars Nighttime Spectacular

Around 8:45-9:00 pm, make your way to the center of Hollywood Boulevard in front of the stage to catch the fireworks. This show offers a lot of visual stimulation. You will have projections on the theater while fireworks light up the sky on both sides. For the perfect view, stand right in the center of the boulevard.  This show is about 15-20 minutes long. These fireworks are my favorites, because they are perfectly aligned with the music and emotions from the films. This is the perfect ending to your Star Wars date, and will inspire you to watch the trilogy when you get home.

Additional Ideas

If you have been to Hollywood Studios before, you would have noticed that I did not mention every single Star Wars related attraction that is offered. I have chosen this sequence based off past date experiences of my own. All the Hollywood Studios offerings of Star Wars are all equally fantastic! If you have more time, and wish to arrive to the park earlier, make sure to squeeze in the Path of the Jedi attraction, plus the theater experience at Star Wars Launch Bay for more highlights from the films.
