As an older guy who has been through the “Disney Wars” for decades, I think that I have earned the right to grumble a bit! After having many visits with my girls and alas grandchildren, I feel that I have been there and done that! This is not to say that the Disney folks haven’t kept up with new attractions, etc. On the contrary, they have done an excellent job on that front. So join me in my imagination of a perfect day for a man of my age in “Mouse and Duck Land.”
Planning
My first choice is the Grand Floridian. There are so many luxuries to marvel at here at this resort hotel. I can look forward to a day at the beach pool with its cascading waterfall, water slide and whirlpool spa. I can look forward to being rewarded with several refreshingly cool fruity cocktails. Oh, and by the way, this hotel is on the resort monorail’s regular stops! Oh my!

But, if all the grandkids are along I may opt for a more moderately priced place to stay, such as the Caribbean Beach Resort. Here my “little angels” can enjoy the pool, boat rentals and even a nature trail and jogging track. I hope they have fun!

Morning
Oh my, what a restful night. I get out of bed at 10 am and take my time getting ready for the day and listening to the news. Then it’s off for a breakfast-brunch. On this my day of days, I shall choose to start my culinary repast at the Grand Floridian Cafe located in the resort. Here I will be regaled by casual American dining with a view that offers Victorian charm including the rose garden and courtyard pool. Bon Appetit!

Afternoon
Having sated my hunger I return to my room to change into my swim attire. Down at the pool I pick a perfect spot to relax and watch the world pass by. Soon I will have made friends with the server who will keep me supplied with my favorite IPAs or frozen fruit cocktails (whatever my mood dictates). Eventually I may take a dip in the pool to cool off. We’ll see about that depending on my inclinations at the time.

Evening
Later it will be time to freshen up and proceed to the bar for Martini Time. Tonight my choice will be the enchanting Citricos Lounge just a few steps from my suite. This is my favorite part of the day!
Then it is off to a grand dinner at one of the many fine restaurants in the park. Come to think of it I shall opt to remain at my hotel and forgo the monorail ride. After all, you can hardly beat Victoria & Albert’s, which is a five star venue, rated so by just about anyone who is anyone. I may choose the Chef’s Table in the kitchen which is always a hoot or maybe the more private Queen Victoria Room. In any event I have no doubt you will be delighted by the fine dining experience that will come your way.

Night
Alas, having tired myself out, I go back to my room to watch the fireworks display over Cinderella Castle. What a gorgeous show that never disappoints. Now it’s time for a good movie until I doze off to another restful night of sleep. Sounds like a perfect Disney day for a grumpy old Paw Paw! Thanks for coming along!
