Top 4 Ways to Chill Out Your Taste Buds at WDW

In Epcot, Foodies, Magic Kingdom, Relaxing in WDW by Candy0 Comments

September is a great time to visit Walt Disney World, since the crowd levels are lower! Unfortunately, the temperatures don’t lower quite as much; they don’t really drop until near the end of the month. In fact, Orlando temperatures still hover in the high 80s, and the humidity can make it feel like a sweltering 99°.  Amazingly, these conditions don’t cause tempers to flare from happy vacationers touring the Disney theme parks. Regular visitors to the parks will tell you there are some fantastic ways to chill–not only yourself, but also your taste buds–on a warm Disney afternoon.

1. Mickey Ears

Everyone’s favorite go-to treat is, of course, a Mickey Ice Cream Bar. They can be found at ice cream carts throughout all four theme parks. But don’t make the mistake of thinking people purchase them solely for the charm of eating ice cream shaped like Mickey ears. It consists of the creamiest ice cream and best chocolate we’ve ever had in an ice cream bar!

Chill Out with a scrumptious Mickey Bar.

2. The Dole Whip

If you have never experienced the taste of a Dole Whip, then be sure to put it at the top of your to-do list on your next visit to the Magic Kingdom. It is a wonderful frozen pineapple soft serve ice cream that just can’t be described.  Ever since the Dole Foods Corporation sponsored the Enchanted Tiki Room in the Magic Kingdom, Dole Whips have always been available in Adventureland at Aloha Isle. You can also grab one at Pineapple Lanai at the Polynesian Resort and at the Tamu Tamu Refreshment Port in Africa in The Animal Kingdom. This is one of those few treats that we even lick the bowl, because we just have to get every last cool fruity drop.

Since the Magic Kingdom opened, the Dole Whip has been a frozen fan favorite.

3. Frozen Strawberry Awesomeness

On our last vacation, while walking through Animal Kingdom one hot afternoon, we started to feel like parched desert nomads in search of a cool oasis. Then we found the Thirsty River Bar and Trek Snacks stand near Expedition Everest. There were frozen lemonade flavors, ice cream, and more. It truly was the best kind of desert oasis. As my husband went for a Frozen Chocolate Covered Banana,  I asked him to grab me something cool. He returned with a Frozen Strawberry Bar. At the very first bite, I was astonished by how fruity, cool, and sweet this treat was. After all, it was just supposed to be a frozen fruit bar, but believe me–it was amazing! I will definitely reach for one on my next trip

4. Frozen Violet Lemonade

In all four theme parks, you will see places that offer frozen lemonade in various flavors: strawberry, raspberry, and classic lemon. Normally, this might not be something on your top cool treats list. But remember, you’re not in a normal place–you are at magical Walt Disney World! After tasting our first Frozen Violet Lemonade, my family now runs for these every time we see them. We found it at the Refreshment Port in EPCOT World Showcase. We loved it so much we got the recipe; now we make them at home.

Any flavor of frozen lemonade at Disney World is sure to make your taste buds say “WOW.” Even better: EPCOT’s unique Frozen Violet Lemonade.

Remember, don’t let the September heat and humidity get you down. After all you’re on a great vacation. When the sweat starts pouring from your brow, run for the nearest cool treat to chill down your taste buds. Each one is a frozen Disney delight!
