New This Week: Pandora, Star Wars Land, Rivers of Light, and Happily Ever After

LOTS of new announcements this week! There will be plenty of exciting new stuff to plan your next Disney World vacations around. Here’s what you missed this week:

Star Wars Land Set to Open in 2019
Inside the new land in Hollywood Studios, you’ll have a chance to guests will be able to pilot The Millennium Falcon as well as immerse yourself in a battle between stormtroopers and Resistance fighters. (via Attractions Magazine)

Pandora — The World of Avatar Opens May 27 at Animal Kingdom
The new 12-acre expansion will add to the nighttime activities at Animal Kingdom and add two new attractions: Avatar Flight of Passage, in which you’ll ride on a Mountain Banshee over jungles and floating mountains, and Na’vi River Journey a trip down a sacred river through a glowing rainforest. In the meantime, you can Visit Pandora. Rivers of Light Debuts at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on Feb. 17
Rivers of Light, the new nighttime show at Animal Kingdom, will debut February 17 (although it soft-opens tonight, so if you’re at the parks this week, you might be able to catch it). Reservations for a new dining package at Tiffin’s or Tusker House opened today. (via AllEars & Disney Parks Blog)

‘Happily Ever After’ Nighttime Spectacular Will Debut at Magic Kingdom Park May 12
The replacement for Wishes will combine a castle projection show with fireworks, and will feature more characters (from Moana, Brave, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, The Princess & The Frog, Aladdin, and others. (via Disney Parks Blog)

New VIP Tour for Families
Disney World introduced a new VIP tour of the Magic Kingdom. The Disney Classics Tour, priced at $199 per person, escorts you to every ride that doesn’t have a height restriction. It’s ideal for experiencing all the classics (Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.) without any thrill rides. (via Orlando Weekly)

Paddlefish is now open
The newest seafood restaurant in Disney Springs can be found in the riverboat right next to Portobello Country Italian Trattoria. (The boat once housed Fulton’s Crab House, and before that, Empress Lilly.)  Take a look at the Lunch and Dinner menus, and lots of photos. (via Attractions Magazine & Orlando Business Journal)
